Community & Youth Engagement

Creative Projects That Bring Communities Together

Meaningful creative experiences that empower individuals, strengthen communities and encourage participation through collaborative art.

Led by artist, educator and facilitator Luke Palmer (Acerone), these projects provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together, share ideas and contribute to creative outcomes that reflect their collective experiences, aspirations and identities.

Projects can be tailored for: Schools and colleges, Youth services, Housing associations, Community centres, Local authorities, Charities and voluntary organisations, Family and intergenerational programmes, Neighbourhood regeneration projects, Festivals and community events.

Why Community Engagement Matters

Strong communities are built on connection, participation and a sense of belonging.

However, many communities face challenges such as:

  • Social isolation

  • Lack of opportunities for participation

  • Disengagement among young people

  • Limited access to creative activities

  • Barriers between different groups and generations

  • A lack of ownership over shared spaces

Creative engagement provides a powerful way to bring people together, encourage dialogue and create positive experiences that strengthen community connections.

By creating opportunities for people to work alongside one another, share ideas and contribute to a common goal, participatory arts projects help break down barriers between individuals and groups who may not otherwise connect. Through creative activities, participants can share experiences in a constructive and inclusive way.

A Creative Approach to Participation

Using collaborative painting, mural creation and participatory arts activities, we create inclusive spaces where people feel welcomed, heard and valued.

Our approach helps to:

  • Create inclusive and welcoming environments for all participants.

  • Build confidence, self-esteem and a sense of achievement.

  • Encourage creativity, self-expression and shared decision-making.

  • Develop communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

  • Strengthen connections between individuals and communities.

  • Promote wellbeing through positive and engaging creative experiences.

  • Leave a lasting legacy of community ownership and collective achievement.

At the heart of every project is a belief in the power of creativity to bring people together, strengthen communities and inspire change.

What Participants Experience

Participants are invited to take part in a supportive and engaging creative process that encourages self-expression, collaboration and connection.

Activities may include:

  • Collaborative painting

  • Community murals

  • Creative consultation activities

  • Visual storytelling

  • Street art-inspired workshops

  • Group design sessions

  • Creative placemaking projects

Projects are tailored to the needs of each group and can be used to explore local identity, celebrate community achievements or engage people in conversations about the future of their neighbourhood, organisation or shared space.

Through the process, participants are encouraged to share ideas, work together and contribute to a creative outcome that reflects the voices and experiences of those involved.

“Lukes ability to engage some of the most hard-to-reach and disengaged young people is truly inspiring. Through creativity, patience, and authenticity, Luke has a remarkable talent for transforming conflict, low motivation, and challenging behaviours into meaningful opportunities for engagement and personal growth.

I would highly recommend Luke for any role involving youth engagement, community arts, creative learning, or project leadership. He is an exceptional practitioner whose passion and commitment consistently inspire those around him.”
